About HOPE2008

HOPE BRACKNELL 2008 - the vision

The National Hope 08 campaign has provided an exciting opportunity for churches in Bracknell to work together, and build on the exciting partnerships with the community that already exist.

Back in October 2007, churches in the area started dreaming together about a year of mission, across the town, irrespective of denomination or background. The vision quickly grew with combined prayer at the heart of it, major outreach events based around the church calendar and lots of action / community involvement, culminating in a week of focused community action, 24th-29th August, and a family fun day, 'Hope in the Park' on 30th August.

Hope Bracknell set itself three objectives:

To connect with Bracknell. By this we hope that churches will be prominent within the community, meeting people where they are, helping Bracknell develop a greater sense of community, 'being connected with each other', and connecting everyone in Bracknell with the unconditional, life changing love of God.

To serve Bracknell. We have a desire to serve our area, whether through befriending the lonely, litter picking, helping the elderly or immobile, or doing practical work for our local schools such as decorating. Our summer fun day will also be a good family time, provided as a service for Bracknell.

To change Bracknell. Bracknell is a changing place, particularly with the amount of building and regeneration going on recently. We believe it is good for churches to be involved with this, helping Bracknell undergo a complete regeneration, not just a physical one.

2008 will be  year of action but it wont stop there. We hope that the partnerships we enter into with local community groups will continue for years to come, the churches will stay prominent in blessing and serving the area, and who knows, perhaps the summer fun could become a regular thing.
